It was just another business as usual day in an Athens, Texas court room until 40-year-old Ray Mason decided to drop his trousers and moon the judge. Mason, who had pleaded guilty to an aggravated assault charge, was then held in contempt of court by Judge Jim Parsons. Evidently the good judge was not impressed with the impromptu display and tacked an additional six months held onto Mason's eight-year sentence. "He said something like, 'Hey, judge, look at this," Assistant District Attorney Barry Spencer recalled. About 70 other people were in the courtroom at the time, Spencer said. "I've been practicing criminal law for well over 20 years, and I've seen a lot of things," said Mason's own defense attorney John Sickel. "This is the first time anything like that has happened."
