We’d like to welcome you to this month’s issue of the Lawyers Stink E-mail Newsletter. We certainly hope that you are doing well and enjoying a lawyer free day – believe it or not, it can be done. Today we’re going to touch on a touchy subject; namely the decadent decay of America’s legal system. Our legal system, a once proud tradition where law and order were the bywords of the day, has steadily fallen into a disgusting, stinking state of disrepair. We now find ourselves saddled with a litigation crazed society where lawyers and lawsuits rule the day and not surprisingly, rule the roost as well. Like it or not, America’s legal system has been reduced to a big stinking mess – a pathetic rubble of law and odor. Once you poke through the thick smoke screen and haze created by all the hot air billowing from lawyers nationwide, you can finally see the justice system for what it really is -- a totally immoral, unjust, unfair, unethical and lawless sham. The underhanded manner in which opportunistic lawyers have habitually manipulated the system for their own personal advantage has ultimately made a total farce of America’s judicial system. The legal system has become the lawyers’ little play toy, used for the purpose of extracting obscene greed and financial gain for some (namely the lawyers) instead of exacting justice for all. Now that stinks! American citizens, merely insignificant pawns in the lawyers’ big chess game of life, have been conditioned to sue each other at the drop of a hat. American businesses, forever reeling from a full throttle litigation assault that continues to increase at an exponential pace, continue to fork over billions of dollars to shakedown specialists masquerading as lawyers. America’s health care, energy, automobile, retail, construction industries and the like feel like they’re litigation magnets, as they are hammered with one frivolous lawsuit after another. The costs of nonstop litigation is hitting all of us in the pocketbook. Regardless of whether or not you or I have ever been waylaid by a lawsuit ourselves (and more and more of us are getting in on the “action”), law and odor costs all of us big time. You’ve got to hand it to lawyers (which we do monetarily every day), they are the consummate masters of misdirection. They say one thing while they do the other – and then expect us not to notice. For example, lawyers want all of us to buy into their nonsensical position that they are the white knights protecting all of the little guys of the world from the big, bad, nasty companies out there. What a joke. Who are they really protecting when the costs associated with settling lawsuits or defending against other lawsuits is ultimately passed on down to the customer? Closer inspection shows that when a company is sued, the targeted company has no choice but to pass the litigation costs on through to its consumers. If they don’t, they go out of business. The lawyers then demand that we see them as champions of the little guys, while the little guys get stuck with the tab in the end. America’s wealth, through the hard work and dedication of sue-crazed lawyers nationwide, continues to be siphoned from the wallets of hard working families and redistributed into the overflowing coffers of fat cat lawyers. Now that really, really stinks! When it comes down to who’s right and who’s wrong in America’s courtrooms, it just doesn’t really seem to matter that much anymore. As we emphasize in our highly acclaimed book, Wake Up and Smell the Lawyers (click book chapter summaries to read excerpts taken from the book), you don’t have to be wrong to get sued – and you certainly don’t have to be right in order to win anymore. That’s some great legal system we have working for us here in America, isn’t it? We have to come to grips with the stark reality of the situation. Lawsuit abuse financially impacts every person living in this country. This out of order and out of control system translates into higher taxes, higher insurance premiums, increased costs for goods and services and increased health care costs for all of us. Not for some of us, but each and every one of us. Correcting the problem and eliminating these rampant abuses of the legal system will require little more than restoration of some fairness, common sense and personal responsibility back into the system – things that many aberrant members of the legal community have worked overtime to tear apart. We should expect the lawyers, the supposed champions of the little guy, to fight us every step of the way. After all, they like things just the way they are (rob from the rich, poor and in between … and keep it all for themselves). They are not about to give up this gravy train without pulling out all the stops. Fortunately, there are many organizations around the country who are on our side and are diligently working to stop lawsuit abuse in America (you can check them out at our stop lawsuit abuse links page). We urge you to contact them, since they could sure use your support. Taking America back from the lawyers will require a massive grass roots effort. After all, they have money, power and position on their side. However, we have one thing going for us that the lawyers simply do not have – and that’s a commitment to do what’s right for our country and its hard working citizenry.
